**CENTRAL EQUINE VETS GASTROSCOPE OFFER**
Gastric Ulcers - what are they?
Gastric Ulcers are lesions that can affect the lower part of the stomach (glandular), the upper part of the stomach (squamous), or in some cases both, with the lesions/ulcers varying in size and severity.
How do I know if my horse has Gastric Ulcers?
You may see:
- Poor performance
- Colic episodes
- Reduced appetite
- Windsucking
- Change in ridden behaviour
- Unwilling to be tacked up
- Change in temperament
- Poor body condition
- Girthy
There are many signs that may mean your horse is experiencing gastric discomfort, so if in any doubt, always call your vet.
What happens during a Gastroscope?
- Our vet will sedate your horse then pass a 3 metre camera down the nostril and into the stomach, at which point you will see the inside of your horse’s stomach on the screen.
- The full process takes around 30 minutes to perform.
- The vet will be able to talk you through the findings, diagnosis, treatment/management plan there and then.
FREE VISIT CHARGE FOR GASTROSCOPE PROCEDURES
If we have 2 or more Gastroscopes booked on a yard at the same
visit, each will receive a FREE VISIT CHARGE*.
*Standard visit £48.50
